Boiler Oxygen Scavengers

deaerator; the boiler is the larger cylindrical vessel to the rightAries Chemical offers a full line of oxygen scavengers for boiler water treatment programs. These oxygen scavengers are available as stand-alone products or compounded with scale & corrosion inhibitors and steam & condensate line corrosion inhibitors. Oxygen scavengers are critical to preventing dissolved oxygen from causing corrosion (called oxygen pitting) in boilers. Aries product line includes non-volatile, volatile, catalyzed, FDA and Kosher approved oxygen scavengers.

Dissolved oxygen can cause severe pitting (corrosion) in boiler feedwater systems, economizers and boiler internal surfaces. Mechanical deaeration should remove most dissolved oxygen, but chemical oxygen reduction (called scavenging) is required to provide optimum protection. Oxygen scavengers are designed to reduce (scavenger or destroy) dissolved oxygen, so it can not cause oxygen pitting. The optimum oxygen scavenger is based upon system design and steam usage requirements.

Proper oxygen scavenging provides the following benefits:

  • Maximizes heat transfer
  • Minimizes corrosion
  • Prevents tube failure
  • Minimizes maintenance costs

Aries Chemical’s Technical Representatives are trained to develop a boiler water system treatment program to minimize and control corrosion, deposit and scale formation. Aries will develop a boiler water treatment program that includes the protection of pretreatment equipment, economizers, boilers, turbines & condensate systems.

Aries boiler oxygen scavenger product lines include the following chemistries:

  • Sulfite: both non catalyzed and catalyzed
  • Diethylhydroxylamine (DEHA)
  • Erythorbic Acid
  • Carbohydrazide
  • FDA approved
  • Kosher approved
